Kundalini Yoga- As Taught By Yogi Bhajan®
Kundalini yoga is an ancient form of yoga that has only been practiced in the west relatively recently. In 1969, Yogi Bhajan founded 3HO to introduce Kundalini to a broader population. Although Kundalini had not previously been taught to the public, Yogi Bhajan felt that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy its benefits.
Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness, consists of simple yogic techniques that can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter his or her age or physical ability. It is a complete science that includes breath, yoga postures, sound, chanting and meditation. It is designed to provide you with the experience of your highest consciousness through the raising of your Kundalini.
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® is probably the most formalized style of yoga currently taught throughout the world. In any class, anywhere in the world, you can expect it to include six major components:
- Tuning-in with the Adi Mantra
- Pranayam or Warm-up
- Close with the blessing song,“May the Long Time Sun Shine Upon You” and tune out.
BREATHE YOUR WAY TO INNER CALM
AN INTRODUCTORY SERIES IN KUNDALINI YOGA AND MEDITATION
This series teaches many new concepts and skills about breathing and the breath. Besides learning how to breathe correctly, students experience many different pranayam (breathing techniques), kriyas (sequences of postures) combined with mantra (primal sounds) and meditations specifically chosen to clear and calm the mind. The intention is for students to come away from the series with a greater understanding of their conscious and unconscious use of the breath…and to never breathe backwards again!
